First information and schedule for Valorant Tokyo Masters announced

We might not even be in April yet, but excitement for the first Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) event of the year in June 2023 in Tokyo, Japan, is building already. As a matter of fact, it has been building for a while as the upcoming Masters Tokyo will be the only (!) Valorant Masters tournament to take place this year. From Sunday, June 11th 2023, to Sunday, June 25th 2023, developer Riot Games will he organizing the offline event in the Japanese capital, making it the first time a major international Valorant event takes place on the Asian continent and therefore, a milestone in the popular esports title’s successful history.

12 teams competing

While not a lot has been revealed about the Valorant Tokyo Masters at the time of writing, we do know that a total of twelve teams will be competing for the title in June. There will be three teams from the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region plus a LockIn slot, three teams from the Americas League and three teams from the Pacific League. On top of that, two Valorant teams from China will be invited to the participate in the tournament as well. Which teams from each region will take the available spots will be decided over the coming weeks and months, as the current split finishes on Sunday, May 28th.
Riot Games has also revealed more details about the upcoming tournament’s format, which is looking to be quite standard. This means that the Tokyo Masters will consist of a group stage, followed by a double-elimination bracket.

Upper Bracket (Round 3) : June 21st, 2023 (Wednesday)
Lower Bracket (Round 3) : June 21st, 2023 (Wednesday)

Lower Final : June 24th, 2023 (Saturday)
GRAND FINAL : June 25th, 2023 (Sunday)

 

On top of the schedule, Riot Games has also announced the locations for the Valorant Tokyo Masters, as it will be a massive offline event. Apart from the Lower Final and the Grand Finale, the whole event will take place at the Tipstar Dome Chiba, which can house up to 2.000 spectators. Both finals will be held at the Makuhari Messe venue, which boasts 4.000 fixed seats and can increase its capacity to 7.000 with the help of movable seats.

High hopes at Riot

The VCT Masters 2023 Tokyo will get started practically as soon as the currently ongoing International League has been concluded, which is also when the qualified teams for the Masters will be determined. Organizer Riot Games has high expectations for the event in Japan, where Valorant has grown enormously in popularity over the past few years.
