Tundra Esports beat Aurora in DreamLeague 28 Grand Finals
3 March 2026
Back in 2013, the now-famous gaming and esports events organizer DreamHack organized their first DreamLeague. By working closely together with other organizations and making team partners in the league, the company wanted to create the world’s most prestigious Dota 2 league. Whether they achieved that goal is up to you, but recently, DreamLeague returned for its 28th season and it was London-based Tundra Esports who took home the title plus a total of $ 290.000 in prize money. They beat Serbian international esports organization Aurora Gaming in a thrilling Grand Final on Sunday, March 1st, 2026.
DreamLeague Season 28
DreamLeague Season 28 got off to a flying start on Monday, February 16th, and concluded on Sunday, March 1st. The event gathered sixteen (16) of the best Dota 2 teams in the world to compete for a share of the $ 1 million prize pool. It started with Group Stage 1, followed by Group Stage 2 and finally the Playoffs, with the Grand Final taking place on the last day. Seeing as DreamLeague is part of the ESL Pro Tour since 2013, there were EPT Points on the table during DreamLeague as well, besides the prize money.
Tundra Esports builds form
London-based Tundra Esports showed good form throughout the series, though they were not considered favorites for the title by many fans and followers at the start. They had to face big names in Group Stage 1, including Team Spirit and reigning The International champions Team Falcons, but they managed four victories, two draws (and one loss versus Team Falcons) nonetheless. Enough to guarantee a spot in Group Stage 2.
Tundra’s performance during Group Stage 2 was largely similar to their performance in Group Stage 1 as the Londoners built on their earlier run. In a group with, among others, Team Liquid, Xtreme Gaming and later DreamLeague Season 28 finalists Aurora Gaming, they ended with five victories and two losses (2-1 vs. Aurora and 2-0 vs. Team Liquid). Tundra Esports’ eventual second place was sufficient to advance to the Playoffs.
DreamLeague 28 Playoffs
Their runner-up status in Group Stage 2 earned Tundra a spot in the Upper Bracket Final, in which they were too much for Team Liquid. The Netherlands-based organization could not win a single game against the Brits, which saw them drop down to the Lower Bracket Final. Against Aurora Gaming, who had just eliminated Xtreme Gaming in the Lower Bracket Semifinal, Team Liquid once again failed to win a game, meaning that Aurora advanced to the Grand Final thanks to a 0-2 victory.
Tundra Esports did not want to leave anything to chance to close to the end, which resulted in them clinching the first two games in the Grand Finals. Aurora showed a sign of life by winning the third game, but the curtains dropped when Tundra grabbed the fourth game, which was their third victory and the last one they needed to crown themselves DreamLeague Season 28 champions. Tundra Esports earned $ 290.000 in prize money with their impressive victory, plus 5.010 EPT Points, while runner-up Aurora Gaming took home $ 130.000 and 4.420 EPT Points.
