IMSA Esports Global Championship returning in November

Since 2021, the Global Esports Games (GEG) is one of the biggest and most important international esports events in the world of international esports. Organized by the Global Esports Federation (GEF), the Global Esports Games feature esports athletes from the more than 130 member federations of the organization who compete in various titles. The event is held in December every year and the location for this year’s edition, the third edition of the Global Esports Games, is Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. We have known the dates for a while now, from December 12th to December 17th, and the Global Esports Federation now has also announced which titles will be involved this year.
Four popular esports titles for GEG 2023
As you would expect from a major international esports event like the Global Esports Games, it features some of the most popular and most-played esports games of the moment. The upcoming 2023 edition will therefore feature Dota 2, eFootball 2023, PUBG Mobile and Street Fighter 6, as per the recent announcement by the GEF. The event, which is hosted by the Saudi Esports Federation, is expected to attract more than 950 players from over a hundred countries all across the world.
“We are thrilled to bring the Global Esports Games to Riyadh”, said Chris Chan, President at the Global Esports Federation, when the titles for GEG 2023 were announced, “Together with the Saudi Esports Federation, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing esports on a global scale. #GEG23 is more than just a tournament; it’s a celebration of talent, innovation, and the power of esports to unite people from diverse backgrounds – and it is our flagship global event”.
The selection of titles for GEG 2023 is almost identical to the one that featured last year, when the event was held in Istanbul, Turkey. In fact, the only real difference between the two events in terms of featured games is that in 2022, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition was involved. This year, the Global Esports Games will feature Street Fighter 6, the successor of Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.
GEFcon and GEFestival
Apart from the 2023 Global Esports Games competition itself, two other major events will be organized in Riyadh as well in December, simultaneously to the tournament. First of all, people can attend GEFcon (Global Esports Federation convention), a large-scale annual global convention of thought leaders from the world of international esports and a platform for innovation in the industry. Second of all, like last year, there will be the GEFestival (Global Esports Federation festival), a celebration of esports, entertainment and youth culture at the same time.
