Apex Legends : What about the world of eSport?

16 May 2019

On February 4th, Software giant Electronic Arts (EA) released its free shooting game Battle Royale, Apex Legends for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Three days later, ten million downloads were recorded. A week later, the new FPS had already delighted 25 million players and was now competing with Fortnite, PUBG and Overwatch.

Apex Legends vs. Fortnite

The principle of Apex Legends resembles at first glance to the popular Fortnite game. But what are the big differences between these games? A big difference is the graphics. While Fortnite offers a colorful comic strip style, Apex Legends wants to mark with realistic visual effects that resemble the famous "Call of Duty" game.
Another difference can be found in the choice of characters. At Fortnite, each player has a character available, but his appearance can be changed. In Apex Legends, on the other hand, players have a choice of eight characters, each with their own skills.

Although the Fortnite construction mode is an essential element, the Apex Legends developers have completely abandoned it, focusing on object collection and fighting, which, according to EA, requires more tactics.

Is Apex Legends suitable for electronic sports competition?

Interest in the new shooting game has not been lost for the major electronic sports organizations and the first players have been registered. For Fortnite and PUBG, the major tournaments are organized with very high prices.

However, for Apex Legends, it’s difficult for the spectator to have comfort in terms of action follow-up.
Nevertheless, Apex Legends is susceptible to influence the world of eSports in the future and challenge leading games such as Fortnite and PUBG.
